The Plot
First Mate "Splinter" Jack stands at the top of the gangplank,
organising preparations. Pirate Pets of all types haul cargo crates, heave
ropes, polish the deck, and inventory their supplies. Splinter Jack sees you
approaching and offers a salute.
"Oy, mate!" he shouts to the dock. "Cap'n Salt-Eye said to look
out fer a fresh face. 'Fresh' sure is the word. You sure yer up fer hard weeks
of sailing? Could be storms, sea beasts, sirens, you name it. 'Dangerous' would
be an understatement."
He grabs a rope in his paws and slides down to land with a thunk right in front
of you. In a low voice, he adds, "Dunno if you've heard the rumours, but
some says there's a ghost ship down south. Went missing a hun'red years ago, an'
been seen 'ere and there in the decades since. Could be nothin', or could mean a
fight with ghost pirates if we catch 'em. Sure you wanna sign on?"
He holds out a wrinkled notepad page with signatures scribbled in black ink. At
the top it reads, "Pirates Wanted."
